Isaac Asimov (1920-1992)

Born in Petrovichi, Russia. Lived in the United States from 1923 to the time of his death.

Asimov was, at one point in his career, a biochemistry professor, but he was more interested in teaching and science fiction than research. Eventually he was to write over 400 books. Although he became preoccupied with quantity toward the end of his career, you’ll find quality in :

·        The Exploding Suns(secrets of supernovae)

·        Understanding Physics (Two Volumes)

·        Asimov’s Biographical Encyclopedia of Science and Technology

·        Best Mysteries of Isaac Asimov(fiction)

·        Asimov’s Chemistry

  • Another trouble with education is that people think of education as something that they can finish. And what’s more, when they finish, it’s a rite of passage. You’re finished with school……If you enjoy learning, there’s no reason why you should stop at a given age… People don’t stop with sex just because they’ve turned forty. They keep it up as long as they can if they enjoy it, and learning will be the same thing.
  • The morality of science is that you report the truth, you do your best to disprove your own findings, and you do not utilize someone else’s findings and report them as your own. In politics, economics, law, in almost anything–people can commit crimes and still be heroes…You make a misstep in science, and you’re through.
